Panpan Yang received her Ph.D. degree from the University of Chicago, where she is currently a postdoctoral teaching fellow. Her first book project reanimates the history of Chinese animation from the 1920s to the present. Concurrently, she is pursuing a second book project on the calligraphic imagination in contemporary Chinese art and new media.
She is broadly interested in the relations between different art forms, questions of cultural flows, and the digital humanities.
Outside of academia, she explores creative possibilities in poetry, design, and animation.
